| When Henry (Harry) Bell first established the
company in 1947 his principle motivation was to offer a personal and
honest good value service to the local community. Since then Bell
Glass has remained a family run enterprise, and perhaps reviewed by
some as partly old fashioned in its thinking by continuing to carry
out Harry’s goal - albeit now throughout Kent where with its fleet
of 14 vans it is equipped to deal with contracts throughout the
area. The Rainham branch with its manufacturing facilities & project
management team is regarded as the central/head office. The branch in Rainham is managed with pride & passion by Alan Bell who is involved on a daily basis with all aspects of the business. Indeed unlike many companies where it’s impossible for the customer to speak with anyone of importance this is certainly not the case at Bell Glass where customers are always treasured regardless of whether they are placing a high valued order or complaining about a small problem. In these days of advertising hype and false illusion perhaps some individuals will be disappointed to learn that Bell Glass never attempt to delude the customer that something for nothing is being offered. Alas Bell’s do not have a 50% off sale running for 11 months of the year - they do not offer a buy one and get six for free silly campaign - and they do not offer the chance of a cruise on the QE2 with every bottle of Glass Cleaner sold. What they do offer is a genuine no frills personal and highly professional service where honesty, experienced free technical advice, and sound value are all happily provided. All customers can rightly expect this without having to sign any contract. Bell Glass is again perhaps somewhat old fashioned in not having the need to set up a “Complaints Department” (where the customer becomes no more than a reference number). Moreover it has no such thing as dedicated salesmen who receive wonderful commissions or bonuses for pressurising or embarrassing a customer into signing a contract, where costs have been artificially ramped up in the hopes of making a quick killing. Unfortunately when Bell Glass provide a quotation/estimate for replacement windows, a conservatory, shopfront (or whatever), there is no scope to reduce the price when the company refuse to alter quality specifications of materials or standards of workmanship purely in order to provide an unrealistic low quote. What Bell Glass customers can be assured of is that any quotation is “honest” and does not allow for re-direction to company fat cats or shareholders. For those about to embark on a new project (commercial or residential) a Bell Glass representative will happily visit your home or office to provide impartial sociable advice on design & costs. Such a visit will not be made by a sales orientated team member who has been employed by 5 other companies in the past 5 years, especially when many of the team have been employed by Bell’s for anything up to 30 years and who not only have an in depth technical knowledge, but have likely had a practical hands on experience in many areas of the company’s activities. (See Photo Gallery below).
Many companies make use of casual sub-contractors
for all site installation work (here today, gone tomorrow) but all
Bell Glass site teams are permanently employed, where it is most
strongly argued that such policies are the only path for
consistently maintaining high standards - which is what all Bell
customers rightly deserve. It is regarded as vital that all team
members have “pride in the job” and fly the company flag in a good
spirit that benefit’s the customer, and there is only one way this
can be achieved - which is the Bell Glass way. |
